Born and raised in Switzerland, I have been living with my family in Heidelberg since 2022.
Eight years of my career were spent in Ethiopia, working as a photographer and publisher on self-initiated projects and documentary assignments for international NGOs and coffee companies.
I specialize in unpretentious, authentic wedding reportage that celebrates the good life, driven by a passion for culturally sensitive and intimate documentary photography.
My Approach
Weddings fascinate me because they not only celebrate individual romance but also intergenerational connections, friendship, love, appreciation, and creativity. The good life unfolds in abundance, and being part of that as a photographer is a privilege.
My background is originally in typography and print media. My time in Ethiopia, where I worked for NGOs like Oxfam and Plan International, as well as coffee companies like Nespresso, sharpened my sense for visual storytelling. I traveled through East Africa, documenting local culture and projects, and developed a keen eye for the human and the authentic. This experience also shapes my approach to wedding photography.
As a documentary photographer, I don’t stage glamorous images or interfere with moments unless absolutely necessary. Instead, I capture the many layers and events of your celebration, including the small, seemingly insignificant ones. I read the light and situations to compose images spontaneously, without influencing the moment. Over the course of the day, many images are created that communicate with one another and, in the end, tell the visual story of your wedding.
Of course, posed photos of the couple, family, or the decoration are part of my process to – it’s an essential aspect of a wedding photographer’s repertoire. However, my main focus is on documentary photography, also known as reportage or photojournalism. In this approach, I document the day as it unfolds, capturing genuine emotions and spontaneous moments. These natural photos will become vibrant memories of an overwhelming day that often passes too quickly.
My goal is to create a timeless visual narrative that captures the authentic spirit of your wedding – from your spontaneity to the emotions and culture of your guests. It’s not just about showing how your wedding looked, but more importantly, how it felt. This is reflected in my editing as well: I avoid excessive retouching, whether it’s a faded vintage look or a saturated catalog style, in order to preserve the authenticity of the moment.
